Sir John Denham (1614 or 1615 – 19 March 1669), was a an Anglo-Irish poet and Surveyor of the King's Works.

In 1665, Denham designed and paid for the construction of a mansion in Piccadilly Circus, though he would sell the unfinished property only two years later due to the passing of his wife and his own failing health. The building became known as Burlington House, in honor of the purchaser, Richard Boyle, 1st Earl of Burlington.[1]
