James Weeks
James Weeks (died 28 May 1864[1]) was a free African-American dockworker from Virginia who founded the historic neighbourhood of Weeksville in Brooklyn, New York City in 1838, 11 years after slavery was abolished in New York.[2] In 2014, Abstergo Entertainment mentioned his founding of Weeksville in their database entry for Colonial Templar Jack Weeks, one of James' known descendants who was active during the Seven Years' War.[3]
