James Wardrop (1705 - 1754) was a merchant, politician, and member of the Templar Order in the years leading up to the Seven Years' War. Operating along the Thirteen Colonies, Wardrop was the custodian of the mysterious First Civilization tome known as "the Manuscript".

The son of a Templar family, Wardrop's main role in the Order was to secure land and wealth, building the foundation for the soon-to-be-established Colonial Rite. In his efforts, Wardrop also created a valuable trade network with the Caribbean, earning a substantial revenue.

In 1752, as war with France loomed, Wardrop came into possession of the Manuscript and was tasked by his fellow Templar Lawrence Washington with translating it. However, Wardrop's colleague Samuel Smith was killed by the Assassin Shay Cormac some months later, and Wardrop's progress with the artifact was halted.

Two years later, Wardrop was in Albany during the Albany Congress, but was killed by Cormac during the proceedings, and the Assassin managed to retrieve the Manuscript.
