Isabella d'Este
Isabella d'Este (18 May 1474 – 13 February 1539) was Marchesa of Mantua during the early 15th century. The daughter of Ercole I d'Este, she was an important figure of the Italian Renaissance.
While her sister-in-law Elisabetta Gonzaga actively struggled against Cesare Borgia and his family,[1] Isabella was a shrewd politician who negotiated with him. In 1503, she gifted the general a hundred carnival masks to congratulate him on his victory at Senigallia.[2]
In 2012, Isabella was included in a mnemonic set in Abstergo Industries' Project Legacy.[3]
