Isaac Comnenus
Isaac Comnenus, or Isaac Komnenos, was the ruler of Cyprus. Isaac was also a member of the Templar Order. On Cyprus, he made sure that the secret Templar Archives were kept safe. He started a war with King Richard, a war he wasn't able to win. Richard claimed the island, but he quickly sold it to the Templars again, now under the rule of Armand Bouchart. Armand imprisoned, punished and later killed Isaac.
Trivia
There was a real life Isaac Komnenos who ruled Cyprus from 1184 to 1191 as the Byzantine governor of the island, but he claimed the title of Byzantine Emperor. Richard the Lionhearte conquered the island and took Komnenos captive. This was due to the man holding the sister and fiancée of Richard captive after they were shipwrecked on the island. He was turned over to the Knights of St. John who kept him imprisoned near Tripoli until he was released in c. 1194. Isaac travelled to the sultanate of Rum and attempted to gain support against Byzantine Emperor Alexios III Angelos. However, he died of poison in 1195 or 1196. Isaac was described as a violent and cruel man. He seemed to have been in league with William II of Sicily, and had close connections to Saladin.
