Iphimedeia is a mortal Naxian woman in the Greek mythology, and the mother of the giant sons of the god Poseidon, the Aloadai Otus and Ephialtes.

Biography

Iphimedeia fell in love with Poseidon, and because of her love, she often walked the shores of the Naxos Island, gathering sea water into her lap. Sometime after, the twins were born.[1]

Influence

Iphimedeia's story survived on the Naxos Island. During the Peloponnesian War the Spartan misthios Kassandra found a cave on the island dedicated to her.[1]
