Humbaba, also known as Humbaba the Terrible, was a monstrous giant and demon in ancient Mesopotamian mythology. He guards the ceder forest and is depicted as a giant human with lion's claws, long hair, and a hairy face.

According to legend, the Sumerian king, Gilgamesh, fought against and slew Humbaba in combat. The king would later forge a sword from the giant's tooth, which later ended up in Egypt during the 1st century BCE.
