House of Borgia
The House of Borgia was a Spanish/Italian noble family that became prominent during the Renaissance. Notable members of the family include Rodrigo, Cesare and Lucrezia Borgia. The family is known today for their crimes such as theft and murder. During the Renaissance, the Borgia family were the most prominent members of the Knights Templar and also their leader. In 1492 with election of Rodrigo Borgia to Pope, the family became the ruling body of the papal state. The city of Rome declined by corruption, theft , murder and oppression. Ezio Auditore Da Firenze became a prominent fighter against the Borgia , and recruited people to the assassins cause. As the power of the Borgias declined, the city of Rome became more renovated and the benefits of art and culture finally arrived. In 1503 with the death of Rodrigo Borgia, the Borgia family took a instant downfall, with Cesare, the captain general of the Papal armies, arrested and exiled to Spain in 1504. The family lost all of it's influence upon the death of Rodrigo after Julius II succeeded of him as Pope.
