Hong Liwei was an informant for the Chinese Brotherhood of Assassins during the early 16th century.

Following the 1524 Chinese Assassin purge, Hong was imprisoned by the Chinese Templars in the Maijishan Grottoes, the former headquarters of the Brotherhood. In 1526, the Assassin Shao Jun let herself be imprisoned in the grottoes to eliminate the Templar Gao Feng. After escaping captivity, she found Hong in his cell and assassinated his guard. Jun then gave him the key to his cell, allowing him to escape.
