The Altar of Zeus was an altar devoted to Zeus located in Olympia, Elis, Greece. According to Greek beliefs, the altar was made of sacrificial ashes mixed with water from the Alpheios River. On the third day of the Olympic Games, 100 oxens would be offered and killed by the Eleans, giving them sovereignty over the shrine.
