Hitting the Hay is a memory in the Bonfire of the Vanities DLC pack for Assassin's Creed II.

Description

A farmer has stopped supplying hay and grains to the citizens of Florence. He has been filled with thoughts that the he is considered "simple and low class" and is not respected by those who oppose Savonarola. He belives that under Savonarola's rule everyone will be treated as equal.

The Farmer's last moments.

• Ezio: You would have let your own people starve! And for what?

• Farmer: Too long I suffered their insults. They called me simple and low-class... I wanted their respect.

• Ezio: I'm afraid you do not have mine. Per quanto sia penoso il trapasso, lieto sarà il tuo sonno. Requiescat in pace. (Though the passing may be painful, it will be a gentle sleep. Rest in peace.)

Outcome

Ezio succeeds in assassinating the farmer. The Medici guards assume control of the district.
