Guardian Lion

The Guardian Lion was a bronze shield engraved with the face of a lion, said to be capable of warding against evil and injuries.
The shield was obtained by the Medjay Bayek of Siwa during the 1st century BCE.[1]

Behind the scenes
The shield appears to be inspired by a stock image of a Chinese shield.[2]
The appearance of the shield appears to be inspired by the guardian lions in Chinese Buddhism, which were thought to protect buildings from harmful spirits and people that might be a threat.
