Template:WPtargets
The Captain Guard was the leader of the Florentine guards, and in 1497, Girolamo Savonarola managed to gain his services as one of his lieutenants by promising him power. He was killed by Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the same year, in order to weaken Savonarola's power in Florence.
Biography
Death
During Savonarola's rule over Florence, the Captain Guard became one of his lieutenants. Ezio Auditore found the Captain Guard standing on a scaffolding in a deserted courtyard, who confronted Ezio and gave a speech:
"Ah! Another challenger! Excellent! Savonarola warned me that some would oppose our rule, and so I devised this little trap - to ferret out those foolish enough to play at hero. It's proven to be both entertaining and effective. Incominciamo! (Let us begin!)"
After the man's speech, agile guards jumped down into the arena-like courtyard where Ezio was standing, and archers began to shoot at the Assassin from the surrounding rooftops. While Ezio fought off the guards, the Captain Guard spoke of how well his plan was working, and that he had trapped and killed many Medici supporters; even mentioning one who had taken down 36 of his guards before being killed in action. However, Ezio finally dispatched the soldiers and climbed up the side of the building, killing the archers there, and before long, also putting the Captain Guard to rest.
Last Words

Captain Guard: Is this truly who I was? So proud and cruel...
Ezio: No. Savonarola bewitched you.
Captain Guard: Did he? Or was it that I tasted power and found myself intoxicated? I wish I had been stronger.
Ezio: As do I. Mi rincresce, ma non c'è altro modo (I am truly sorry, but there is no other way). Requiescat in pace (Rest in peace).
