Green Dragon Tavern
The Green Dragon Tavern was a small tavern located in Boston's North End. During the American Revolution, the Green Dragon Tavern was frequently visited by secret societies as a place to plot and conspire. As such, it is sometimes referred to as the "Headquarters of the Revolution". The Sons of Liberty, namely Samuel Adams and Paul Revere, were regular visitors of the tavern.[1]
From 1754 onwards, the Green Dragon Tavern was also a meeting place for the Colonial Rite of the Templar Order after Haytham Kenway's arrival to the British colonies in North America. In 1766, the tavern was bought by the Freemasons and renamed "The Freemasons Arms"; as the sign above the door was still a green dragon, people kept using name Green Dragon Tavern.[1]
In 1854, the building was demolished, and a new Green Dragon Tavern was built elsewhere in North End. In 2012, the Assassin cell consisting of William Miles, Desmond Miles, Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane visited the tavern after having stolen a First Civilization power source from a building near the Freedom Tower in New York City.[2]
