Grand Temple of Apollo

The Grand Temple of Apollo was the largest of the three temples dedicated to the Greek god Apollo on the Greek island of Delos. Its construction began when the island became the seat of the Delian League between 475 and 450 BCE.

Built on top of the Sanctuary of Apollo, the temple stood on top of an ancient tomb.[1]

Outside of it was erected the Colossus of the Naxians, a giant statue of the god.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, the temple was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
