Gill was a poet who lived in Glowecestre, Mercia around 870s CE.
Being deathly allergic to bee stings, Gill could only admire his crush, Serle the beekeeper, from afar, writing poems and letters to him but not being able to deliver them himself. Viking warrior Eivor Varinsdottir once came upon Gill while he wrote and decided to help him in his romantic endeavours. Eivor delivered a letter to Serle, arranging the first meeting between the two lovers.[1]
