Geoffrey of Monmouth (c. 1100 - c. 1155) was a Welsh clergyman. He is best remembered for his History of the Kings of Britain, composed in Latin, a largely fictional account of the earliest British history.

During the 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from one of the several book shops in Constantinople.[1]
