Gao Miao (高邈) was a lieutenant general of the Yeluohe.

Biography

In late 755, Gao Miao assembled with other generals serving under jiedushi An Lushan at the gates of Fanyang for his declaration of war against the Tang, ostensibly to oust the corrupt prime minister Yang Guozhong. As Lushan set off with their 150,000 strong army, he proclaimed that henceforth, they were to be called Yeluohe.[1]

Their massive force swept through Hebei without resistance on their way to the Yellow River. In Changshan Commandery, they stopped before the city gates to demand passage from its grand protector, Yan Gaoqing. Gaoqing met with Lushan outside the gates, strictly abiding by formalities to issue subdued disapproval. Though Lushan had greeted him with the brutal execution of Vice Regent Yang Guanghui of Hedong, he had changed his tone by the end to one of false amiability. Rather than allowing Gaoqing to answer further, Lushan commended his character and pretended to grant him the "support" of his lieutenant generals Gao Miao and Li Qincou. It was to be a feebly disguised occupation, one that Gaoqing could see all too well.[1]
