Francesco Troche was the Pope's chamberlain and a personal friend of Cesare Borgia. In 1503 Francesco told his older brother, Egidio Troche, about Cesare's intentions forRomagna, when Egidio found out about this he wrote to the Venetian ambassador in hopes to prevent Cesare from conquering Romagna. When Cesare discovered this he believed Francesco to be a traitor and had Micheletto Corella strangle him to death. His body was later dumped into Tiber River.
Trivia:
- In real life, there are disputes of whether Francesco Troche threw himself overboard a boat to drown in an act of suicide or if he was strangled in a prison when the boat arrived in Rome.
