The Fort of Praisai

The Fort of Praisai was a fort within Zarax Point in Lakonia, Greece. Found on a hill in the middle of the region, this fort was used to spot enemy ships and protect the eastern side of the region. It was occupied by a sizeable military force.[1] During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra travelled to this fort when she was tasked by King Pausanias of Sparta to cull rogue krypteia, one of whom was stationed at the fort.[2]

Behind the scenes

Fort of Praisai as it appears in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey is a condensing of about 40km of coastline. The actual geographic feature depicted was in ancient times called Akro Minoa, thought to have been the location of an old Minoan trading post and the modern day location of Monemvasia. The regional name is named after the ancient town Zarax, about 11km north near the modern day Ierakas. The fort is named after the ancient town Prasiai which was located an even further 24.5km north of Zarax near modern day Kyparissi, Laconia.
