Fort Jefferson was a fortification erected by soldiers of the United States Army in October 1791 during the Northwest Indian War.[1] In November of that year, General Arthur St. Clair led the army's retreated to the fort following its incredible losses fighting a coalition of Miami, Shawnee, and Lenape forces near the Wabash River.[2]
