Biography

Mythology

Eteokles was renowned as the first to revere the Charites, the three graces.[1]

Following a dispute between the brothers over the rule of the city of Thebes, Eteokles exiled Polynikes. Some time later, Polynikes returned with an Argive army, led by seven leaders, to retake Thebes.[2]

Legacy and influence

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra visited and explored the Tomb of Eteokles in Sacred Plains of Demeter in Attika.[2]
