Eris was one of Those Who Came Before, worshipped by the Ancient Greeks as the goddess of strife.

Circa the 13th or 12th</sup century, Eris gave the Apple of Discord (the first Apple), marked for the "fairest", to Athena, Hera and Aphrodite, which led to a quarrel between the three. Zeus sent the three to Paris of Troy, who chose Aphrodite to be the fairest. As a reward, Aphrodite had Helen fall in love with Paris and she moved to Troy, which enraged Helen's husband Menelaus and led to the Trojan War.
