Ellette

Ellette was an Anglo-Saxon noble lady and flyter who lived in Colcestre in Essexe during the 9th century.

Often accompanied by her servants west of the Colcestre Barracks, Ellette was challenged to a flyting duel by the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir, which was accepted by her servant. However, Ellette lost the duel and had her pay Eivor for the wager she had placed.[1]
