Sir Edwin Henry Landseer (1802 – 1873) was an English painter and scupltor.

In 1858, Landseer was commissioned to work on the lion scupltures at the base of the Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square, which depicts the famous battles fought by Admiral Horatio Nelson.[1]
