Abū Jaʿfar Hārūn ibn Muḥammad (812 – 847), better known by his regnal name al-Wāthiq bi-llāh, was the ninth Caliph of the Abbasid Empire, ruling from 842 until his death in 847.

The successor of his father al-Mu'tasim, al-Wathiq was in turn later succeeded by his own brother, al-Mutawakkil.[1]
