Domenico Maria Novara (29 July or 1 August 1454 – 14 August or 18 August 1504) was an Italian astronomer and mathematician during the Renaissance.

Novara was the mentor of fellow astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. During the early 16th century, Novara and his student came close to a scientific breakthrough that could threaten the Templar-controlled Papacy. In an attempt to stop them, Cesare Borgia sent a crossbowman to kill them.

However, the Assassins Francesco Vecellio and Cipriano Enu were able to eliminate the crossbowman. Vecellio then left some of his men to protect Novara from further interference.
