"The gods would never lie. Aside from Dolos. And Apate. But never mind them."
―Barnabas to Kassandra.[src]-[m]

Dolos is the personification and the spirit of trickery, guile, deception, treachery, and lies in Greek mythology. His female counterpart is Apate, and his Roman equivalent is Mendacius.

Influence[edit | edit source]

During the Peloponnesian War, Barnabas, the captain of the ship Adrestia, acknowledged Dolos on a couple of occasions[1] during his adventures with the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[2]

In 48 BCE, the Cyrenean Sminthos believed that Dolos, "the spirit of cunning", had sent the Medjay Bayek of Siwa to help him.[3]
