Dolos is the personification and the spirit of trickery, guile, deception, treachery, and lies in Greek mythology. His female counterpart is Apate, and his Roman equivalent is Mendacius.

During the Peloponnesian War, Barnabas, the captain of the ship Adrestia, acknowledge Dolos on a couple of occasions[1] during his adventures with the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[2]
