Akagi Fort

Akagi Fort was a fort in eastern Kii, Japan.

History

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke arrived at the fort with Kyonyo after learning of his father Kennyo being captured by Tsuchi-Gumo, the leader of a bounty hunter group, who sought to lure out and kill Kyonyo to avenge their fallen ally and Shinbakufu member Wada Koretake. Infiltrating the fort, Naoe and Yasuke saved Kennyo and confronted Tsuchi-Gomo. Ultimately killing him, they acquired the ōdachi Flowing Peace from his personal effects and later left to meet Kyonyo and Kennyo outside the fort. Reunited, both father and son thanked the duo for their help.[1]

Behind the scenes

Currently, the ruins have been protected as a historical site since 1989.[2]
