Sometime in 1888, Nikolaï's Mentor tasked him with assassinating Tsar Alexander III, an ally of the Templar Order and owner of the powerful Staff of Eden. Nikolaï was to kill Alexander and bring the Staff back to the Assassins. Before he left, Anna told him that she was pregnant.
