Baghdad's unwashed and unsung lived in the Harbiyah district where the run-off of industry ended-up; a busy area that was dull and grim with soot and the debris of hard work. It was also home to the notorious Damascus Gate Prison, a veritable tomb for those who fell afoul of the Caliph's favor.
