Agnodike was a cousin of Periktione, the magistrate of Lalaia, who lived during the 5th century BCE.
Biography
During the Peloponnesian War, Agnodike was sent by Periktione to locate their hunting party that had failed to return after some time, fearing the Sons of Xerxes to be responsible for their disappearance. However, Agnodike was captured by a group of bandits, who held her captive at their camp near Mount Parnassos.[1]
Agnodike was later rescued by the misthios Kassandra, whom Periktione had asked for help. She later returned to the village to report to Periktione of an upcoming attack by the Persians, also noting Kassandra's efforts of rescuing her.[1] Later on, she informed Periktione of weapon caches stolen from a fort by the Sons of Xerxes.[2]
