Claymore
A claymore is a Scottish two-handed sword.[1]
History
The claymore was a signature weapon of Scottish mercenaries. These mercenaries introduced the heavy sword to other European countries such as France where it remained in use as late as the French Revolution by paramilitary organizations such as the Parisian Brotherhood of Assassins.[1]

Trivia
- A number of two-handed swords appear in Assassin's Creed: Unity, but they are all haphazardly designated claymore, long sword, bastard sword, great sword etc. without distinction, resulting in every greatsword being mislabelled. As a result, neither the Claymore nor the Great Claymore in the game are proper claymores, being zweihänders instead. The only actual claymore is the Long Sword—also erroneously named.
