Cheaters Never Prosper is a memory in Assassin's Creed II.

Description

Ezio instructed by the announcer.

This memory involves the last of the four challenges in the Carnevale to compete for the Golden Carnevale Mask. Ezio Auditore competes in this fighting championship, where the only rule is that all competitors remain unarmed while participating. After easily defeating the few challengers, Dante Moro challenges Ezio. Though the Assassin defeats him, Silvio Barbarigo bribes the judge to allow him to send in several armed guards to render Ezio physically unable to continue. Ezio dispatches them easily, however, the Golden Mask is not awarded to him, due to Silvio's intervention.

Dialogue

Ezio sees the Game Host for the final game.

• Host: Benvenuti, lottatori (Welcome, fighters)! The game is simple. There's only one rule: no weapons. Fight until you are the last man left standing. Will it be you? O tu (Or you)? Hmm? Who will win the Golden Mask?

Ezio goes into the pit.

• Host: Let's bring out the next contender!

A fighter enters the pit and is defeated by Ezio.

• Host: Who else wishes to compete?!

Another opponent enters and is defeated by Ezio.

• Host: Do we have another challenger?

A Brute guard enters the pit and challenges Ezio. He puts up a fight but Ezio defeats him.

• Silvio: Looks like this one thinks himself some kind of campione (champion). Go on, Dante. Show him how sadly mistaken he is.

Dante enters the pit and fights Ezio. Ezio defeats him.

• Host: Is there nobody else to challenge our man in the ring? Do we have a winner?

Silvio whispers into the Host's ear and passes him a bag of florins.

• Host: Ah! We have combatants!

Four armed Agile guards walk forth.

• Ezio: So that's how it's going to be, eh?

Silvio's thugs prepare to fight Ezio.

The guards attack and Ezio uses his weapons to kill them all. He wins the game.

• Host: Signore e Signori(Ladies and gentlemen)! The games of Carnevale have come to a glorious conclusion. Come see our winner claim his Golden Mask! Our winner has proven himself the fleetest of foot, the strongest of champions, the wisest strategist, and clearly a favorite of the ladies! With four games won lealmente (fair and square), the winner of the Golden Mask is--
• Silvio: (coughs loudly)
• Host: The winner of the Golden Mask is... Dante Moro!

Dante walks onstage and claims the mask.

• Silvio: Congratulations. We'll see you this evening. (He hands him the mask)

Outcome

Ezio loses the Golden Mask, and the Carnevale's games come to an end.
