Charlotte Hague was the wife of Matthew Hague. Following their marriage in 1723, Matthew had his schooner rechristened to the Charlotte,^[1] overwriting its original name of Caroline meant to honor his former fiancé Caroline Scott from a decade earlier.^[2]
