Cemal and Teragani talking with Altaïr

Cemal was a member of the Levantine Brotherhood of Assassins.

Biography

One evening in 1247,[1] Cemal sat with Teragani, Tazim, and another Assassin at a campfire just outside Masyaf's gate. Cemal and Teragani were deriding the nightmares afflicting their leader Abbas Sofian when they were joined by Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, Abbas' ousted predecessor. Despite the ruin Abbas had wrought on his family and the order, Altaïr chided them to pity Abbas but refrain from mocking him. After decades in exile, during which the Levantine Brotherhood had become nothing more than a rogue, bandit state, Altaïr finally intended to seize back the order in a counter-coup. While Tazim alone remained sympathetic to Abbas, Cemal, Teragani, and the fourth Assassin readily threw their allegiance to Altaïr. They escorted him to the inner sanctum of the castle.[2] Though they were accosted by a few of Abbas' captains, they managed to make it to Masyaf without much issue.[3][1]
