The Camber Sands, also known as Cleofa Sands during the Anglo-Saxon period, is a beach in Sussex, England, east of the Seven Sisters cliffs. It is the only sand dune system in the county, and unlike most of the beaches in England, Camber Sands is made of purely of sand rather than shredding pebbles.
During the 870s, the beach was visited by the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir during her time in the shire.[1] In modern times, Camber Sands was notably used by the British Army as a training ground in preperation for storming the beaches in Normandy, France during World War II.[2]
