We don't know whether what happened was supposed to be symbolic or a conspiracy, or just that Ezio died from natural causes. Unless Ubisoft hits at the former, we'll have to assume that it's the latter.

Anyway, this is an old topic, and it'd be better off if it wasn't discussed until anything new on the subject comes up.
