'Good for one use, but what about reloading'. Easy, he can just retract the crossbow limbs which would activate a mechanism in the crossbow to reload another bolt, before unfolding the limbs and firing the crossbow. Also, it wouldn't be on his hidden blade, it would be the actual crossbow that gets modified.
