Warning: Very long long post ahead.

I know that I've been ranting about how Ubi should make an Assassin's Creed in Fuedal Japan, but, to be honest, I've wanted an Assassin's Creed in the modern day since I first played an Assassin's Creed game and realized how unique the modern world was visually, technologically, and plot-wise. Now I've played a few of modern day / near future conspiracy game series (Deus Ex and Metal Gear), but I must say, the modern day aspect of Assassin's Creed was just... my cup of tea.

The thing is, a huge majority, as far as I know, of the fanbase DOES NOT want a full-fledged modern day Assassin's Creed. Am I the only one who finds these imaginary scenarios / possibilities amazing:

  • Playing as Desmond, you are running from the police on foot (small time crime). They can't catch up to you because you are at peak physical condition (remember how fast Desmond could run in Assassin's Creed III?). You run into an alley, freerun off a garbage bin onto a smaller building, jump down to street level, get in a vehicle, drive off a ramp and do a Leap of Faith in midair into a river.
  • Desmond has been assigned to kill an Abstergo scientist working on nanotechnology that will react to the Eye-Abstergo once activated, controlling the host of these nanites. Desmond is equipped with a suppressed sniper rifle with an increased optical zoom. You use Eagle Vision while zoomed in to identify this scientist and then you kill his corrupted ass. This is where it gets good (if you have watched  and remember Rush Hour 3, you'll know what I'm talking about). Master Templars assigned to guard the scientist identify Desmond from a distance and run towards him like Lee ran towards Kenji in Rush Hour 3. They get some ground on him, as he has to rappel down from the building he sniped the scientist on. He loses all of the Master Templars except one, who corners him in an alley. The Master Templar is revealed to be Lucy - a woman Desmond once trusted. Lucy says that she will kill Desmond if he moves, but Desmond retorts, saying that they both know that she could never kill him, and then he leaves.

(I know there are a lot inconsistencies, but these are imaginary scenarios.)

Now I know that was a lot, but it is all possible, technologically, with next-gen. The only problem is Ubi and the fanbase. Am I seriously the only who thinks that if Ubi had the passion and patience of, say Rockstar Games, that they could make an awe-inspiring modern day Assassin's Creed?
