Yes, you are correct, Haytham was shown to be more ruthless to the end - but he did not kill 'innocents' as much as he showed his enemies no quarter.

Brought up a copy of The Fall to reply to your third paragraph. A little quote from Hannah Mueller: "You may not lvoe the way things are, but at least we got here through free will. The Templar way would have been less... democratic." And another from the Mentor, about the 2000 US election: "We must ensure, for the welfare of the world, that this election progresses fairly." The Assassins are evidently in favor of a democratic government, and the Templars are not.

Though nothing I put in this blog was made up. The Assassins did support the Bolsheviks, as the Russian people at the time were all for a renewed government - it was the choice of the people, and the Assassins stood by their choice. From the Encyclopedia: "The Assassins, eager to replace the autocratic Tsardom with a populist government, helped fan the flames of a revolution against which Nicholas was ultimately powerless."

It is important to note that the Assassins are obviously not communists. Throughout history, the Assassins supported various other governments - for example, Lorenzo de' Medici, King Ferdinand II of Aragon, King Henry VII of England, Sultan Suleiman I. Vladimir Lenin is just one of many allies added to the list.
