Bakhit
Bakhit was an engineer and inventor from Sudan who became Roshan's employer.
Biography
By 819, Bakhit has practiced as an inventor and engineer for his dangerous projects, which proved to be fatal for his numerous assistants.[1] At one point, he used to be a king's beloved favourite, but after the king's death and every subesequent murder, Bakhit left to save himself.[2]
His work led him to travel to Baghdad and conduct more of his work at the House of Wisdom. While there, he preferred to work alone but noticed a young girl watching him from afar for some months. One instance, he spoke with the girl Roshan and introduced himself. He soon began to mentor and teach her about reading, writing, and mathematics. With his help, Roshan was able to take free classes at House of Wisdom. Within the next months, he saw her grow smarter, fuller, and sharper. He later offered her a job as his assistant, to which she cautionally accepted.[3]
Contract to Thatta
Bakhit explained that his client has provided an escort and a new place of work at Thatta. Before long, they left the House of Wisdom and traveled along with multiple guards, led by one soldier Advi. Whilst traveling, he noticed and was irked over Roshan learning how to fight under Advi. After a month, they finally arrived at their new quarters. Readying his workplace, Bakhit unpacked his wares and started to work on his client's orders.[1] For the next two years, Bakhit and Roshan worked exclusively for the Prince of Thatta on his explosives meant for the prince's opponents. Stressing out his assistant, he became more passive with her training with Advi. However, he began to renege on his contract and took on more clients illegally.[2]
For the next year, Bakhit continued on working for the Prince of Thatta and his other clients, which included brothel madame Maryam and her mobile brothel. Despite Roshan warning him to stop his side hustles, Bakhit reprimanded her before promising to be careful. However, one evening, Bakhit was arrested by the prince's guards alongside his servants except Roshan, who escaped with Advi's help.[4]
Working after Thatta
Fortunately, Bakhit continued to work in exchange for his freedom as his inventions were made and delivered, especially in Karachi. However, his devices were usually dismantled secretly by Roshan, who found work under master thief Dervis.[5] Within a year, Bakhit's works and explosive devices were in transit across Fustat, but most of them were still deactivated by Roshan, who became disappointed over her former mentor's inventions.[6]
In 824, one of his inventions was enclosed in a case, which contained a precious artifact and his own explosive machination and escorted by the Martyrs of Agaunum. The Martyrs, despite some delays, arrived at the House of Wisdom with the case to their customer, an agent of the Order of the Ancients. However, the machination was noticed by the customer, who hissed at the Martyrs. Subsequently, they were attacked by a group of mercenaries sent by Hidden One Master Assassin Fuladh Al Haami.[7]
After the Martyrs were defeated by them, the case was reopened by one of the mercenaries Dias, who activated the explosive component and blew himself up. With the shock affecting the remaining people, this moment allowed Fuladh to assassinate the customer. With Roshan and Persian mercenary Azadeh being the only remaining mercenaries, Fuladh ultimately recruited Roshan while giving Azadeh leave after curing her father's illness earlier. With Roshan, he had a former assistant to Bakhit to aid him deactivate the case's second explosive part.
