I don't know. Many people, including, me first got Assassin's Creed for the historical setting and the open world exploration. Of course, now I enjoy a lot more about the series than just that, but if they didn't change it, I doubt I would have gotten into the series. So yes, I think that some people who play the games now wouldn't have played PoP: Assassins. On the other hand, a lot of people who liked PoP didn't like AC. So in the end, it's questionable. I would say it would be less popular, but who knows.
