I just have a CRAZY thought: what if Desmond can see Ezio die through his memory? Remember what Subject 16 said in one of the Glyphs: "I feel the guillotine cut my throat, the bullet hit my chest, the water fills my lung, the blood spills out, thick and red." His ancestors may survive gunshots, thick water, but how can they survive guillotines? The answer is... the Shroud!!! Just like in Project Legacy!
