As far as I know, no official source has claimed Shay will appear in Unity. Not sure where you heard that :s

I share your hope that Connor doesn't appear in Unity - not in the flesh anyways. If there's references made to the Colonial Assassins, I'd be fine with that, as well as any present day stuff. But he would look so out of place in Paris, so he should definitely just stay in America.
