I don't know if this is old news or not (and if so my apologies) but I read several articles about this and wanted to share my teory on Rogue with you:

On one  article  it is said that "he's forced to change course after his part in a fairly major historical event (we won't spoil exactly what he gets up to, but it involves something that happened in Lisbon around the time period)."

This has to be massive earthquake that occured there in 1755, how Shay or the assassins play a role in it however I don't have a clue. I doubt they have the resources (even with TWCB's tech) to create such an event so it has to be something else. Shay says that he had so slaughter innocents so it could be that during the quake he had to sacrifice civilians to achieve a certain objective (kill a templar perphaps?) .

Any thoughts?
