Thanks for all the clarification!
I'm always so, so, sooo anxious about how they tackle the philosophy of the series ever since they butchered it in Rogue and also the film, though the former was made by a minor studio Ubisoft Sofia. Unity, reference books, and all other games have been quite consistent and deep about the philosophy, so I probably shouldn't be worrying so much. It's just that philosophy can be a hard thing to present well, especially when you want to show how a character develops it in the first place. You have to make sure that it's not oversimplified to the point it becomes a black-and-white thing. Aspects of Assassin philosophy akin to mine I developed independently based on very complex life situations.
