I'm convinced that this is the site of Shay's manor from the 1750s. The map locations match up, the docks are very similar, and if you look east from the fort's entrance, you should recognise the view as well. So, would it be okay to speculate that the manor was torn down and then replaced with Fort Washington, or is there another explanation? --Crimson Knight Intercom 19:14, January 8, 2015 (UTC)

I'd have to take a look at the database entry of Fort Arsenal (the official name of Shay's manor) and see if anything's mentioned in there. But I wouldn't really mind it - if Fort Arsenal's there in the 1750s and Fort Washington's there in the 1770s, it seems only logical to conclude the former was torn down to make room for the latter.
