Marco Polo

Marco Polo (15 September 1254 – 8 January 1324) was an explorer and a merchant for the Venetian Republic of Italy. He learned the art of trading from his father, Niccolò Polo, and his uncle, Maffeo Polo and was well educated learning merchant subjects including foreign currency, appraising, and the handling of cargo ships.

History

Early Life

Marco was a member of the Assassin Order, which included Dante Alighieri and Domenico Auditore's father. Marco hired Domenico as a sailor on his journeys, likely to keep him safe from Templars. Later, he and Domenico's father put him under the guidance of Dante, who trained him to be an Assassin.

Explorations

Marco later traveled to Asia, where he met Kublai Khan and visited the palace of Genghis Khan, acquiring Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's Codex, which he later brought back to Italy. After he and Domenico's father found out about Dante's death, which they knew was a Templar assassination, they gave Domenico the Codex and sent him to leave Italy for Spain, which is where Dante and Domenico were supposed to go.

Marco was known for writing down everything that they experienced during their travels in Asia, though on their way back from Asia, only 18 of the original 600 were left on board of the ship when he finally returned.

Death

On January 8, 1324, Marco was killed by the Templars. Domenico later returned to find his father and Marco dead.
